What we created

Services delivered by Sphere of Sound for this project.

Context

Stichting Amelander Musea · Over Leven op Ameland · 2024 "About Life on Ameland" is an audio tour set on the island of Ameland. It looks at the island's history and at how climate change is changing the place where people live.

The question

How has life on Ameland changed over time, and what does climate change mean for the island's living environment today? The aim was for visitors to understand this through the island's own history rather than through facts alone.

Our approach

Sphere of Sound made a binaural audio tour that moves listeners through different eras of the island's past. Historical narratives became spoken and sound-designed scenes, so that each period can be heard and followed. The tour was delivered in English, German and Dutch. Original Music was composed as a theme-song and used as anchor to steer emotional context.

Outcome

15 stops in Dutch, German and English. Designed so that visitors can follow the story of Ameland from past to present and connect it to the effects of climate change today. The tour was delivered in three languages: English, German and Dutch.
